Tuesday’s college basketball
Penn won 10 of its last 12 games with a win over St Joe’s; they’re 5-0 in Ivy League, but all five games were at home. They’re 2-4 in true road games- their last one was Dec 9. Princeton is 3-1 in Ivy- they’re 3-1 at home, with wins by 16-37-36 points. Penn beat Princeton 76-70 at home Jan 6, ending an 8-game skid against the Tigers. Penn lost its last eight visits to Jadwin Gym. Princeton is 8-10 in last 18 games as home favorites, 2-2 this year; Penn is 7-16 in last 23 games as road underdogs. Ivy League home favorites are 2-7 vs spread this season.

Xavier outscored Butler 24-6 on foul line in 86-79 home win over the Bulldogs Jan 2; Xavier is 8-3 vs Butler in Big East games, splitting four visits to Hinkle Fieldhouse. Xavier won its last six games, beating Georgetown in OT Saturday; Musketeers are 3-2 on Big East road, losing at Providence/Villanova. Bulldogs won last four games, all by 12+ points; they’re 4-1 at home in Big East, with only loss to Seton Hall. Butler is 12-8 in last 20 games as home faves, 3-1 this year; Xavier is 7-17 in last 24 games as road underdogs. Big East home favorites are 18-13-1.

Buffalo won 10 of its last 11 games; they’re 4-1 on MAC road, with only loss by 3 at Kent State. Bulls are 12-1 vs teams ranked outside top 150, with only loss to Kent. Central Michigan won its last two games after a 1-6 skid; Chippewas beat Ohio U in double OT Saturday- three of their guys played 44:00+ in that game. Buffalo won its last four games with CMU; Bulls won three of last four visits here. Buffalo is 7-3 in its last ten games as road favorites, 2-2 this year; CMU is 3-9 in last dozen games as home underdogs. MAC home underdogs are 7-4 vs spread.

Michigan was +11 (16-5) in turnovers in 58-47 home win over Northwestern eight days ago; Wolverines won 10 of last 12 series games, but lost last two games at Northwestern, by 4-2 points. Michigan is 5-3 in its last eight games, losing last two road games, at Nebraska/Purdue. Wildcats won three of last four games; they’re 3-2 in their temporary home this winter, losing to Nebraska/Ohio State. Michigan is 6-12 in last 18 games as road favorites; Wildcats are 5-12-1 in last 18 games as home underdogs. Big 14 home underdogs are 14-10 vs spread.

Missouri State lost last five games after a 15-5 start; they lost last three road games, by 3-20-22 points. Bears allowed 81 ppg in last four games. Indiana St lost three of last four games; they’re 3-2 at home in MVC, losing to Drake/Bradley. Missouri St outscored Sycamores 11-5 over last 2:29 in 76-73 home win over ISU Jan 14. Bears won last four series games, all of which were decided by 5 or fewer points, or in OT. Sycamores are 7-8 in last 15 games as home favorites; Bears are 11-14-1 in last 26 games as road dogs. MVC home favorites are 23-20 vs spread.

Tennessee outscored Kentucky 47-28 in second half of 76-65 home win over the Wildcats Jan 6; home side won last five series games. Vols lost their last 10 games in Rupp Arena, with seven of last eight losses by 10+ points. Tennessee won its last five games, allowing 58.4 ppg; Vols are 3-2 on SEC road, with losses by total of six points. Kentucky is 4-1 at home in SEC, winning by 5-1-13-2 points. Kentucky is 18-14 in last 32 games as home favorites, 1-4 this year; under Barnes, Tennessee is 5-10 as road underdogs, 1-1 this year. SEC home favorites are 27-22.

Arkansas lost six of last nine games, allowing 87 ppg in losing last two; Hogs are 4-1 at home in SEC, with only loss to LSU. South Carolina lost its last three games, by 7-5-23 points; they’re 2-3 on SEC road, losing by 5-14-23 points, winning at Georgia/Florida. Alabama beat Mississippi State 68-62 at home Jan 20; they led 41-22 at half. Tide won 10 of last 11 series games; they won last four visits to Starkville, by 32-4-2-10 points. Alabama split its last four games; they’re 2-3 on SEC road, winning at LSU/Florida. Bulldogs won their last three games, scoring 75.7 ppg; they’re 4-1 at home in conference, with only loss to Auburn. Under Johnson, Alabama is 10-9 as road underdogs, 2-2 this year; under Howland, State is 7-5 as home favorites, 3-0 this year. SEC home favorites are 27-22 vs spread.

Oklahoma State lost 76-60 at Baylor Jan 15; Bears won last five series games, winning by 4-3 points in last two visits here. Baylor lost 8 of its last 11 games; they’re 0-5 on Big X road- their last three Big X road losses were by 3 or less points. Bears are 0-7 in true road games this season. Cowboys lost three of last four games; they’re 3-2 in Big X home games, losing to TCU. West Virginia. Ole Miss won its last eight games with Missouri; Tigers are 0-4 in SEC visits to Oxford, losing by 15-3-9-3 points. Rebels lost their last three games, allowing 86 ppg; Ole Miss is 4-1 at home in SEC, with only loss to first place Auburn. Boise won six of its last seven games; they’re 3-2 on MW road, with losses by total of 7 points. Lobos are 5-0 in MW home games; they won six of last eight games overall. Broncos are 8-7 in last 15 games as road favorites, 0-2 this year; over last nine years, New Mexico is 3-3 as home underdogs- doesn’t happen much. Mountain West home underdogs are 11-7 vs spread.

Fresno State won 77-73 at San Diego State Jan 17, after trailing by 10 with 15:24 left; Bulldogs won four of last five series games. Aztecs are 3-2 in MW visits to Fresno- underdogs covered last three of those. San Diego State lost four of its last six games; they’re 3-1 at home in MW, winning by 20-19-36 points. Fresno is 3-2 on MW road, losing by 10 in Reno, by 2 at Utah State. Fresno is 9-6 in last 15 games as road underdogs, 2-1 this year; Aztecs are are 9-12-1 in last 22 games as home favorites, 3-1 this year. Mountain West home favorites are 18-15 vs spread.
