St Joe’s held Princeton to 35.5% from floor in 76-68 win at Princeton. Hawks split their first two games, losing by 11 at Toledo, winning in OT at UIC. St Joe’s lost LY’s 2nd-leading scorer Kimble for season this week. Princeton lost its first two games, by 10 at Butler, by 9 at home to BYU. Tigers have made 47% of their 3’s this month, but turned ball over 22.5% of time. Last two years, A-14 teams are 12-6 vs spread when playing an Ivy League opponent. A-14 home favorites are 4-7 vs spread; Ivy League underdogs are 3-4.

Oakland won last two games with Toledo by 12-2 points; teams didn’t meet LY. Grizzlies are 2-0 this month, beating Ft Wayne/New Orleans by 14-19 points at home. Oakland is making 46% of its 3’s so far, but also turned ball over 23.6% of time. Toledo beat St Joe’s by 11, then played a D-III team; Rockets made 14-25 on arc vs St Joe’s; they start three juniors and a senior. Tex-Arlington was 12-27 on arc in 85-50 win over LMU of WCC in its opener; that game was last Saturday. BYU played in New Jersey Wednesday. Mavericks start five seniors. BYU lost one of its best G’s (Emery) for season for off-court reasons; Cougars allowed 58.5 ppg in winning their first two games, by 30-9 points- they start three sophs, two juniors. Last two years, Sun Belt teams are 3-2 vs spread when facing a WCC squad. WCC favorites are 2-4 vs spread; Sun Belt underdogs are 7-5

Santa Clara lost by 30 at home to Nevada Wednesday; Broncos start two juniors, three seniors. Nevada did make 15-30 on arc against them. Cal Poly beat a stiff during week after losing first two games, by 16 at Stanford, 3 at California, even though Mustangs made 26-53 on arc in those two losses. Cal Poly starts two juniors and a senior. Last two years, Big West teams are 22-20 vs spread when playing WCC teams. WCC favorites are 2-4 vs spread; Big West road underdogs are 10-5.

Long Beach State won by 12 at San Francisco in its only D-I game so far; 49ers beat Oregon State 71-67 on road LY, rallying from down 7 in last 10:00. Niners start three seniors, and two juniors. Oregon State shot only 22.5% on arc in splitting its first two games, beating So Utah by 17, losing to Wyoming by 9. start two sophs, two juniors, don’t play any seniors. Last two years, Pac-12 teams are 22-14 vs spread when facing a Big West team. Pac-12 home favorites are 9-10 vs spread; Big West road underdogs are 10-5.

Texas Tech allowed 47 ppg in winning tis first two games, at home over Maine/South Alabama; Red Raiders are long way from home in a Connecticut casino, playing Boston College in their own territory. Tech started five seniors; they forced turnovers on 28.8% of possessions against the two stiffs. BC is 3-0 with an 85-65 win over Maine; Eagles start two sophs, two juniors- they played three stiffs, also. Last two years, Big X teams are 11-3 vs spread when playing ACC teams. Big X favorites are 9-8, 0-4 away from home; ACC underdogs are 1-0.

Northwestern lost 92-88 at home to Creighton Wednesday- they allowed 76.3 ppg in winning two of first three games, beating Loyola 79-75, St Peter’s 75-66. Wildcats’ three opponents shot 44.1% behind arc against them. LaSalle is 3-0 with a double OT win at crosstown rival Penn; Explorers started three seniors in last game, played only 8 guys. Last two years, Big 14 teams are 28-23 vs spread when playing ACC squads. Big 14 favorites are 10-8 vs spread; A-14 underdogs are 5-5.

Tennessee State beat Middle Tennessee LY, snapping 6-game series skid. Middle Tennessee lost 69-63 at home to Belmont Thursday; Blue Raiders have a 72-67 road win at Murray State- they’re shooting only 20.7% behind arc. MTSU start two juniors, three seniors. Tennessee State lost by 36 at Kansas, then beat a stiff Monday; Tigers stat two juniors, two seniors. Last two years, OVC teams are 17-10-1 vs spread when playing C-USA teams. C-USA favorites are 5-4 vs spread; OVC underdogs are 9-11.

Ill-Chicago hammered Delaware State Thursday, after losing in OT to St Joe’s; Flames start four sophs and a senior big guy; they were only 9-30 on arc in the St Joe’s game, a game UIC led by 11 with 6:46 left. Fort Wayne beat Delaware State by 14, after they lost opener at Oakland by 14. Mastodons were 17-39 on arc in their last game- they’ve shot only 40% inside the arc this month. Last two years, Summit teams are 8-3 vs spread when playing Horizon teams. Horizon favorites are 2-4 vs spread; Summit underdogs are 7-9.

Louisiana Tech won its only D-I game 96-95 in OT over SE Missouri; they outscored SEMO 28-14 on foul line. Tech starts two sophs, two juniors they’re picked 5th in C-USA. Montana State beat Omaha in OT, lost by 8 at Utah State, then beat on a stiff; Bobcats start two juniors, two seniors, have forced turnovers 24.4% of time. Last two years, C-USA teams are 3-1 vs spread when playing Big Sky teams. C-USA favorites are 5-4 vs spread; Big Sky underdogs are 8-9.

Akron won its opener 67-57 over Cleveland State last Saturday; they haven’t played since. Zips have a new coach, start a freshman, two sophs- they’re picked 4th in MAC East. Tenn-Martin lost its first two road games, in OT at Marshall, by 3 at Illinois, where Ohio coach Grace worked LY. Skyhawks beat NC Central by 17 in their last game Wednesday. UTM starts two juniors, two seniors. Last two years, MAC teams are 10-7 vs spread when playing OVC opponents. MAC favorites are 6-1 vs spread; OVC underdogs are 9-11.

Portland State made 10-21 on arc, beat local rival Portland 80-75 in their only D-I game so far; Vikings start four seniors and a junior. Cal-Riverside lost by 12 at LMU after upsetting Cal 74-66 in Berkeley; Highlanders turned ball over 22.3% of time, shot just 28.6% on arc in those games, but neither one was against a stiff, either. Riverside starts two freshmen, three seniors. Last two years, Big Sky teams are 14-8 vs spread when playing Big West squads. Big West favorites are 2-0 vs spread; Big Sky underdogs are 8-9.

Manhattan was 25-38 on foul line, 3-9 on arc in 80-79 home win over St Francis Wednesday; Jaspers were lucky St Francis was only 17-27 on foul line. Manhattan starts two sophs, two seniors. Harvard lost by 4 at Holy Cross Thursday, after winning its previous game over UMass in OT. Crimson start four sophs and a junior. Last two years, MAAC teams are 16-11-1 vs spread when playing Ivy League teams. Ivy League favorites are 0-4 vs spread; MAAC underdogs are 8-4.
