Las Vegas oddsmakers have the Vancouver Canucks as small favorites as they host the Chicago Blackhawks. The Canucks will start Roberto Luongo between the pipes for the third straight game, as the veteran has outplayed Cory Schneider to start the season, posting an impressive 1.61 GAA and .938 save percentage in four games so far. The Blackhawks, who dropped their first points of the year Wednesday night in a shootout loss in Minnesota, look to rebound tonight.
In Detroit, the Red Wings will be searching for payback against the St. Louis Blues. The Wings were smoked, 6-0, when the two teams opened their seasons in St. Louis on January 19. The Wings will be the better-rested of the squads; the Blues played last night, beating the Blue Jackets, 4-1, in Columbus. It may be useful to keep an eye on this game; the Wings and Blues will meet again in six days.
There are seven games total tonight in the NHL, including the Philadelphia Flyers visiting Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals, and the Ottawa Senators heading south to face the Carolina Hurricanes.
The lines are from LVH as of about 8:00 a.m. P.T.
