Re: Game 3 Trends

Tips and Trends

Los Angeles Lakers at Orlando Magic

Lakers: Since the NBA went to a 2-3-2 format in 1985, 11 of 12 teams winning the first two games have gone on to capture the championship. That speaks well for the Lakers, up 2-0. They’ve won their past four playoff games by a combined 61 points. Led by Kobe Bryant, the Lakers have out-shot the Magic averaging 46 percent from the floor to the Magic’s 35 percent. Bryant has scored 69 points in the two games, making 26-of-56 shots from the floor while sinking 16 of 18 free throws. Los Angeles is 23-9-2 (71 percent) ATS in their last 34 games as an underdog. The Lakers have held Dwight Howard in check with a swarming, suffocating inside defense. Howard has taken just 16 shots from the field, sinking six. But in Game 2, Howard did a nice job kicking the ball back to outside threats Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu.

The Under is 11-5 in the Lakers’ last 16 road games.
The Lakers are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games following a straight-up victory..

Key Injuries - None.

PROJECTED SCORE: 97

Magic (-4, O/U 198): After being out-rebounded 55-41 in Game 1, Orlando came back to have a 44-35 rebounding edge in Game 2. The Magic showed they could match up physically to the taller Lakers. The key question is can Orlando match up mentally? The Lakers have the momentum. The pressure now is on the Magic, which has to shake off a frustrating Game 2 overtime loss in which Courtney Lee missed a tough layup at the end of regulation. Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu stepped up their perimeter shooting combing to make nine-of-18 shots in Game 2. However, Orlando’s guards – Rafer Alston, Jameer Nelson, J.J. Redick and Lee - shot only five-for-23 from the field, while committing 20 turnovers. Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy has to decide if he wants to stick with Alston as his main point guard, or go with Nelson, who is back healthy. Regardless, Orlando’s guards must play better.

Orlando is 5-1 ATS in its last six playoff games when favored.
The Under has cashed in 13 of Orlando’s last 19 home contests.

Key Injuries - None.

PROJECTED SCORE: 101(Side Play of the Day)
