New York Rangers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

- The New York Rangers and the Pittsburgh Penguins will both be trying to pick up a win on Monday when they battle at Mellon Arena.

Hurricanes activate D Wesley

Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes activated defenseman Glen Wesley off injured reserve Sunday.

Wesley, who had been sidelined since January 5 due to illness, will be available to play in the Hurricanes' next game at Toronto on Tuesday.

In 44 games this season, Wesley has one goal and two assists for three points.

The veteran is in his 20th NHL season and ranks seventh on the NHL's all-time games-played list for defensemen, having played in 1,423 regular-season games with Boston, Toronto and the Hurricanes franchise since entering the NHL in 1987.

Ottawa's Heatley could miss 4-6 weeks

Ottawa, ON (Sports Network) - Ottawa forward Dany Heatley is expected to miss 4-6 weeks of action after separating his shoulder in the Senators' 3-2 win over Detroit on Saturday, according to TSN of Canada.

Heatley missed most of the third period in the game after crashing hard into the boards with Red Wings forward Dallas Drake.

Heatley managed to leave the ice under his own power but was hunched over in obvious pain. After the game, Ottawa coach John Paddock said Heatley suffered an upper-body injury but offered no further details.

Heatley, who was named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team, has 25 goals and 30 assists in 43 games this season.

-Andrew Brunette, Avalanche, had two goals in Colorado's 4-3 shootout win over Florida.

-Marc-Andre Bergeron, Islanders, scored two goals to lead New York over Ottawa 3-1. .

-Patrick Sharp, Blackhawks, scored a second-period goal and had the winner in the shootout, sending Chicago to a 3-2 win over Nashville.

DOUBLE TROUBLE

The Sedin twins combined for five points in Vancouver's 4-3 victory over St. Louis on Sunday. Daniel had a goal and two assists, and twin brother Henrik had a goal and an assist for the Canucks, who rebounded from consecutive losses to Phoenix and San Jose and snapped a three-game road losing streak.

BEEN A WHILE


Marc-Andre Bergeron got his second power-play goal of the game early in the third and Mike Comrie scored later in the period, leading the Islanders to a 3-1 win over Ottawa on Sunday. New York hadn't beaten the Senators in Ottawa since March 15, 2003. Ottawa was 9-0-1 in its previous 10 games against the Islanders, outscoring them 43-17 over that span.

OILERS COOL FLAMES

Ales Hemsky and Shawn Horcoff each had a goal and an assist, and Edmonton stretched its winning streak to a season-high four games by beating Calgary 2-1 on Sunday. The Oilers handed the Flames their third loss in a row following a five-game winning streak.

Francois Beauchemin scored 33 seconds into overtime on Sunday to give Anaheim a 4-3 victory over San Jose, ending the Sharks' 10-game road winning streak. ... Evgeni Nabokov had started all 43 of San Jose's previous games this season, tying for the second longest streak by a goalie since 1989-90. Twenty-one-year-old Thomas Greiss got the start in Nabokov's place. ... Chicago downed Nashville 3-2 in a shootout to snap an eight-game slide.

Ottawa's Dany Heatley will be sidelined up to six weeks because of a separated right shoulder. Heatley crashed into the end boards with Detroit forward Dallas Drake in the second period of Saturday's 3-2 victory over the Red Wings. The 26-year-old has 56 points (25 goals, 31 assists) in 43 games this season.

MAKING MOVES


Carolina activated defenseman Glen Wesley from injured reserve Sunday and sent three players to the team's AHL affiliate in Albany. The Hurricanes sent forwards Keith Aucoin and Brandon Nolan and defenseman Tim Conboy to Albany.
