Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Bills are 5-point favorites to beat the Dolphins. The total, meanwhile, sits at 39 points. As of this writing, 57% of the public betting tickets are on the Bills to cover the point spread.
Miami Dolphins
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Adam Gase's future with the Dolphins is "in real doubt." Owner Stephen Ross is expected to make sweeping changes this offseason. Gase, EVP Mike Tannenbaum, and GM Chris Grier are all in danger of being fired. Gase hasn't lived up to the coach Miami thought they were getting, with the Dolphins ranking near the bottom of the league in every offensive category the last two seasons. He's also clashed with multiple players — trading away Jay Ajayi and giving up early on DeVante Parker. Gase has been handicapped by Ryan Tannehill as his quarterback, so it wouldn't be surprising if he resurfaces in a weak coaching class. Browns owner Jimmy Haslam is a known supporter of Gase.
Buffalo Bills
Bills DT Kyle Williams announced he will retire after Sunday's Week 17 finale against the Dolphins. The 35-year-old was a 2006 fifth-round pick out of LSU and spent his entire 13-year career in Buffalo. After Sunday, he'll have appeared in 183 career games. Williams has 48.5 sacks with 10.5 of those coming back in 2013. Williams was selected to five Pro Bowl squads and could land in the Bills' Ring of Honor.
NFL Betting Trends
Miami
The Dolphins are 4-1 against the spread in their last five divisional games.
Buffalo
The Bills have failed to cover the spread in four of their last five home games.
Prediction
I hate backing the Bills as a favorite, especially laying five points but I’ll make the exception today. The Dolphins could fire they head coach on Monday and move on from quarterback Ryan Tannehill this offseason. They have nothing to play for today and even when the playoffs were still an outside chance last week they laid an egg versus a Jaguars team that has been out of contention for months. Playing in 30-degree temperate won’t help the warm-weather Dolphins get motivated either.
