Los Angeles Chargers
Coach Anthony Lynn confirmed Monday the Chargers will be playing starters in Week 17 against the Broncos. The Chargers are coming off a home loss to Baltimore. "We’re going into this game no different than any other game," Lynn confirmed. "We’re not worrying about resting people. We’re trying to win the game. Herm Edwards said it best – you play to win." Expect all hands on deck, even banged-up Melvin Gordon (knee) and Keenan Allen (hip) as the Broncos play the role of Week 17 spoiler.
Denver Broncos
Coach Vance Joseph confirmed Phillip Lindsay will undergo wrist surgery and is done for the season. Lindsay has ligament damage after getting hurt Christmas Eve night in Oakland. He's expected to be sidelined 4-6 months with a "serious" injury. Still, as long as all goes as planned, Lindsay should be ready well in advance of training camp next year and should head into 2019 as an early-round fantasy target in what is expected to be a new offense with Joseph likely on his way out.
NFL Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The over is 6-2-1 in the Chargers’ last nine games after accumulating less than 150 yards passing in their previous contest.
Denver
The under is 13-3 in the Broncos’ last 16 home games versus an opponent with a winning road record.
Prediction
The over is a perfect 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams in Denver. The over is also 10-2 in the Chargers’ last 12 games played in Week 17, is 4-1 in their last five games coming off a loss and is 5-2 in their last seven road games. The Broncos don’t have much of an offense, especially with Lindsay out, but the Chargers should do most of the heavy lifting in this one.
