Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Giants are 6-point favorites to beat the Cowboys. The total, meanwhile, sits at 41.5 points. As of this writing, 57% of the public betting tickets are on the Cowboys to cover the point spread.
Dallas Cowboys
Coach Jason Garrett insists "anybody who is healthy and ready to play is going to play" Week 17 against the Giants. That can be taken a number of different ways and leaves an "out" for Garrett, as no starter is 100% healthy this time of the year. Guys could use some rest, and the last time we saw Dallas in this situation with nothing to gain in Week 17, Ezekiel Elliott dressed but didn't play, and Dak Prescott and Dez Bryant played a couple series. It was essentially treated like a preseason game. Elliott is not going to get a full workload in his game, even if he is active. The Cowboys are already locked into the NFC's No. 4 seed and have far more to lose than gain Sunday.
New York Giants
Giants coach Pat Shurmur does not expect Odell Beckham (quad) to practice Thursday. The Giants have yet to rule out Beckham for the season finale, but it would be a shock if he plays. It looks like Beckham will finish his season with a 77-1,052-6 line in 12 games.
NFL Betting Trends
Dallas
The under is 10-4 in the Cowboys’ last 14 conference games and 17-7 in their last 24 games overall.
New York
The under is 13-6 in the Giants’ last 19 home games but the over is 5-2 in their last seven games overall.
Prediction
Jason Garrett says that he won’t rest starters, but chances are he’ll treat Sunday’s game against the Giants as if it were a fourth preseason game. There’s no reason to risk injury to Dak Prescott or Ezekiel Elliott with the playoffs coming up next week. That means plenty of Cooper Rush and Rod Smith for Dallas in what should be a low-scoring game.
NFL Week 17 Prediction: Cowboys/Giants under 41.5
