Chicago Bears Fantasy Spin
Mitchell Trubisky completed 18-of-34 passes for 157 yards in Week 16 against the Chiefs. It's another step in the wrong direction for Trubisky, who showed some signs of life in Week 15. Chicago's offense was completely lifeless this week, with Trubisky settling for checkdowns and averaging a pathetic 4.6 YPA. Trubisky badly overthrew Allen Robinson on what would have been a 40-plus yard touchdown in the first half. It was the closest he came to making a big play. Trubisky leads the NFL with a sub-80 passer rating in five of his 14 starts. He won't be more than a low-end QB2 for a Week 17 matchup with the Vikings.
Minnesota Vikings Fantasy Spin
Kirk Cousins completed just 16-of-31 passes for 122 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Vikings' 23-10, Week 16 loss to the Packers. Cousins made maybe one good throw all night, dropping a 21-yard touchdown into Stefon Diggs in extremely tight coverage, but it was a disaster outside of that pass. He was under an incredible amount of pressure behind one of the worst offensive line performances of the season, taking five sacks and running for his life on several other drop-backs. It's the popular thing to drag Cousins on social media, but he had no help, though he also had some poor misfires. Cousins will have to shake this one off before a Wild Card playoff game. The Vikings could opt to rest their starters Week 17 against the Bears.
Chicago
The under is 5-0 in the Bears’ last five road games versus a team with a winning home record.
Minnesota
The under is 19-6-1 in the Vikings’ last 26 games after accumulating less than 150 yards passing in their previous game.
NFL Week 17 Prediction
As of this writing, we don’t know how many starters will play for Minnesota with nothing on the line. The Vikings blew their opportunity to win the NFC North on Monday night when they lost again to the Packers in a dismal performance on offense. Thus, with the team locked into the sixth seed in the NFC, the Vikings might choose to rest a lot of their starters. Meanwhile, the Bears offense has largely struggled despite a couple of sporadic games when Trubisky plays well. With the under 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams and 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Minnesota, I see a defensive struggle breaking out on Sunday.
