Atlanta Falcons Fantasy Spin
Matt Ryan completed 32-of-45 passes for 384 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the Falcons' 24-12, Week 16 win over the Jaguars. The 384 yards were Ryan's second most of the season, while he's now reached 300 in 10-of-14 starts. Crazy. For the second straight week, Ryan locked onto Julio Jones to spectacular effect, though they were held out of the end zone this time. Both of Ryan's picks were directed Jones' way. Despite the raw yardage, it's been a frustrating year for Ryan, one he will get to end with the softest of Week 17 matchups in the Bucs. Ryan was surprisingly held out of the end zone in the sides' first meeting.
Tampa Bay Bucs Fantasy Spin
Jameis Winston completed 25-of-48 passes for 335 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions in Tampa Bay's Week 16 loss to the Texans. Winston's three interceptions in the first half, including two on back-to-back possessions out the gates, made for the 11th time he's tossed at least three picks in a single game — three more than Philip Rivers has registered since entering the league. It also ensured the 25-year-old heads into Sunday as the league leader in interceptions (28). Sunday's performance ran the gamut of Winston's criticisms including a pick-six on Tampa Bay's opening drive, two dropped interceptions, multiple overthrown receivers wide-open in the end zone, and a handful of pinpoint back-shoulder fades 20-plus yards downfield. Having passed Tony Romo for No. 19 all-time with 4,908 single-season passing yards, Winston will finish this year in the record books no matter his final tally in Week 17. He's arguably become must-see television despite Tampa Bay's subpar 7-8 record.
Atlanta
The under is 5-2 in the Falcons’ last seven games after accumulating more than 350 total yards in their previous game.
Tampa Bay
The over is 20-8 in the Bucs’ last 28 games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.
NFL Week 17 Prediction
The over has been a good play when these two teams meet, cashing in six of the previous seven meetings. The over is also 4-1 in the Bucs’ last five games when they’re listed as a favorite, is 11-2 in their last 13 games overall and has cashed in nine straight conference games. The under has been a better play in Falcons games, especially when they’re an underdog (5-1 in their last six games as a dog). That said, the over has cashed in five of Atlanta’s last seven games played in the month of December and is 17-7-1 in the Falcons’ last 25 games when they play a team with a losing record.
