Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Titans are 1-point favorites to beat the Giants. The total, meanwhile, sits at 43 points. As of this writing, 54% of the public betting tickets are on the Giants to cover the point spread.
Tennessee Titans
Titans placed RT Jack Conklin on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season. Coach Mike Vrabel had been holding out hope that Conklin could return after getting injured last Thursday, but his knee obviously was not responding the way the team had hoped. It's especially poor news after Conklin missed the first three games of the year recovering from last season's torn ACL. 2018 was a lost campaign for a player who had been shaping up as one of the league's better tackles. Still only 24, Conklin will have an excellent shot at a bounce-back effort in the second-to-last year of his rookie contract in 2019. Dennis Kelly is the next man up for Tennessee.
New York Giants
Odell Beckham (quad) is out for Week 15 against the Titans. Beckham was limited in practice on Wednesday but has since been downgraded. Coach Pat Shurmur said his stud receiver had "no setbacks" and he "just can't go." His loss is an upgrade for Saquon Barkley as the Giants schemed an even heavier run-first approach without ODB in Week 14. Evan Engram will likely run more routes sans Beckham, but note the Titans have allowed the fewest fantasy points to opposing tight ends this year. This news is a slight upgrade for Sterling Shepard, too.
NFL Betting Trends
Tennessee
The Titans are 12-25 against the spread in their last 37 road games but are 4-1 ATS in their last five games played in the month of December.
New York
The Giants are 4-0-1 against the spread in their last five games overall but are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six home games.
Prediction
Derrick Henry’s 238-yard rushing performance a week ago versus the Jaguars couldn’t have come at a better time. The Giants have allowed at least 115 yards rushing in five of their last six games so if the Titans can get Henry going again today, they can control the game offensively and lean on their defense to hold a Beckham-less New York offense in check. The Giants have played much better of late but the win over the Bears was their only impressive victory over the past month (and they almost blew that one). I’ll take the better team only laying a point.
