Rams vs. Eagles Spread Prediction
Following back-to-back road games, the Los Angeles Rams return home Sunday night to take on a Philadelphia Eagles team that will start Super Bowl hero Nick Foles. Are the Rams laying too many points tonight?
Game Snapshot
329 Philadelphia Eagles at 330 Los Angeles Rams
8:20 p.m. ET, Sunday, December 16
Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles, California
Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Rams are 13-point favorites to beat the Eagles. The total, meanwhile, sits at 52 points. As of this writing, 54% of the public betting tickets are on the Rams to cover the point spread.
Philadelphia Eagles
Carson Wentz (back) is expected to be shut down for the season. Wentz is facing a three-month timetable from a stress fracture in his back. The Eagles are holding off on placing him on IR, but he's unlikely to return this season. Wentz doesn't need surgery, so he'll be 100 percent for OTAs. Nick Foles will close out the year as the Eagles' starter.
Los Angeles Rams
Jared Goff completed 20-of-44 passes for 180 yards and four interceptions in the Rams' Week 14 loss to Chicago. It was Goff's worst game since his rookie season. One of Goff’s picks was on a Hail Mary at the end of the first half. His other three interceptions were staredowns thrown directly into coverage. This was a tough spot for Goff in primetime against the league's best defense on the road. He has a get-right matchup with the Eagles secondary in Week 15.
NFL Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The Eagles are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last six games versus an opponent with a winning road record.
Los Angeles
The Rams are 1-4-1 against the spread in their last six games overall and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four home games.
Prediction
This is too many points to lay with a Rams team that has a quarterback in Goff that has not played well since the team’s win over the Chiefs weeks ago. Granted, the Eagles are banged-up on both sides of the ball but we’ve also seen what Foles is capable of in short bursts. The Eagles had every opportunity to beat the Cowboys on the road a week ago and I don’t see them laying down tonight.
