Minnesota Vikings Fantasy Spin
Kirk Cousins completed 24-of-30 passes for 242 yards and a touchdown while losing a yard on his lone rushing attempt Sunday in the Vikings’ Week 14 win over Detroit. He lost eight yards on his lone sack. Cousins shared the wealth against Detroit, completing passes to 11 different receivers in Sunday's victory. His go-to target was Stefon Diggs, who had no trouble destroying the Lions' listless secondary for 92 yards on six catches with most of his production coming in the first half. Cousins was responsible for the first of Minnesota's three touchdowns, finding Bisi Johnson in the back of the end zone on first-and-goal midway through the first quarter. Many of Cousins' completions came on play-action passes and designed roll-outs. Having already surpassed their win total from last season (eight), the Vikes will look to keep the engine rolling when they visit the Chargers in Week 15.
Los Angeles Chargers Fantasy Spin
Philip Rivers completed 16-of-22 passes for 314 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions in the Chargers' 45-10, Week 14 win over the Jaguars. Rivers only played three quarters before being relieved by Tyrod Taylor. The long-time Chargers’ franchise QB had his best game of the season, hooking up with Hunter Henry, Mike Williams and Austin Ekeler for touchdowns. The Ekeler score was simply a screen that wound up going 84 yards to the house, but Rivers deserves plenty of credit for his strikes to Williams and Henry. His day could've been even bigger if rookie Jalen Guyton didn't drop a potential 50-plus yard touchdown. Rivers has certainly had his lows this season, but this Chargers offense is still capable of putting up points with their talented group of skill-position players against the league’s more middling defenses. Fire up Rivers as an upside QB2 at home in Week 15 against the Vikings.
NFL Betting Trends
Minnesota
The under is 8-2 in the Vikings’ last 10 games played in the month of December and is 8-3 in their last 11 games when facing an opponent with a losing record.
Los Angeles
The under is a perfect 5-0 in the Chargers’ last five home games and is 10-1 in their last 11 games when listed as a home underdog.
Prediction
Even though the under has been so profitable in Chargers games this season, I’m rolling the dice that both of these offenses combine for enough points to push the score over the total. In Minnesota’s last four road games, the over is a perfect 4-0. In the Vikings’ last five games overall, the over Is 4-1 and is also 5-1 in their last six games coming off a win. Mike Zimmer’s defense hasn’t been as stout this season as in years past and while the Chargers have had all sorts of issues protecting Rivers, I like L.A. to figure out a way to move the ball through the air.
