Falcons vs. Panthers Free Pick
Ron Rivera and the Panthers will put their undefeated record on the line today versus their struggling NFC South rivals the Falcons at 1:00PM ET.
No team has been a worse bet over the past two months than Atlanta. After starting the season 5-0, the Falcons are now 6-6 and have lost five straight games. They've also failed to cover the spread in eight consecutive weeks, including last Sunday as a 1-point underdog in Tampa. They're now 0-3 straight up inside the division and 0-3 ATS against NFC South opponents.
The Panthers allowed 38 points to the Saints last Sunday but the Falcons have been horrible inside the red zone this season and won't come anywhere near that total today. Opponents are clogging the middle of the field, which is where Matt Ryan has often made his money in years past. And with Josh Norman having loads of previous success versus Julio Jones in years past, Ryan will struggle with his No. 1 target being blanketed.
Carolina is a 7.5-point home favorite according to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag. That number seems high for a divisional game, but Atlanta is a total freefall and will be without run-stuffer Paul Solai. Good luck against Cam Newton and Jonathan Stewart.
