Doug Martin to score today?
Doug Martin has a lot of yards but hasn’t found the end zone often this year. Will that change today when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Atlanta Falcons?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, this game is considered even, as neither team is giving points to the other. The over/under total is listed at 46 points. These two meet today at 1PM ET on FOX.
Martin is surprisingly second in the NFL right now in rushing yards at 1,038 for the Buccaneers (5-6, 6-5 ATS). The Muscle Hamster has only found the end zone three times on the ground and also has one receiving touchdown this season. But, that may not be an issue today against the struggling Falcons (6-5, 4-7 ATS). While statistically, Atlanta ranks 10th in the league in run defense at just 96.8 yards per game, they are among the worst in the league in allowing touchdowns to running backs. This season, the Falcons have given up 12 rushing touchdowns, which is tied for worst in the league with the Detroit Lions. They also have given up 655 receiving yards to running backs and three other scores. The 655 yards is most for any defense in the NFL. For today’s game, Martin is listed with odds of -140 to score a touchdown and odds of +700 to score the first touchdown.
Martin hasn’t scored a touchdown since Oct. 11 in a 38-31 win over the Jaguars. He had three of his four scores this season in that one game. When the Bucs met the Falcons in Atlanta on Nov. 1, Martin rushed for 71 yards on 23 carries and had just one catch for seven yards. The Bucs won that game 23-20 and started Atlanta on a four-game losing streak that it is currently on. Last week, Atlanta gave up two rushing touchdowns to Adrian Peterson, the only player with more rushing yards than Martin.
