According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, the Rams are heavily favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -10 points against the Lions. Lions out of the playoff hunt

The Detroit Lions suffered their fourth loss in five games on Thanksgiving when they were beaten by the Chicago Bears, 23-16, at home. Detroit is now 4-7 on the year, 6-5 against the spread and 6-5 with the over. They are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five as well.

The Lions have been struggling on offense over recent weeks and are averaging just 21.6 points and 342.7 yards per game this year. They will be without rookie running back Kerryon Johnson again this week due to a knee injury. He was providing a nice boost in the backfield this year with 641 rushing yards and three scores. Matthew Stafford has thrown for 2,841 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2018, but also has 10 interceptions and has been sacked 32 times. Two of his top three targets have been traded or put on IR, which has turned him into a dink-and-dunk QB lately. Kenny Golladay is the leading receiver with 52 catches for 804 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, Detroit gives up 26 points per game, but allows just 355.5 yards per contest.

Rams can be tops in NFC

The Rams are coming off a bye following an amazing 54-51 shootout with over the Kansas City Chiefs two weeks ago. The Rams are 10-1 on the season, 4-6-1 against the spread and 6-5 with the over. L.A. With the Saints losing on Thursday, the Rams can give themselves a game cushion in the NFC standings with a win today. They are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four.

Los Angeles has been very explosive on offense this season, as they rank third in points (35.4 ppg) and second in total yards (448.6 ypg). Jared Goff has thrown for 3,547 yards and 26 touchdowns with just six interceptions. Todd Gurley has rushed for 1,043 yards and 13 touchdowns while catching 43 passes for 441 yards and four more scores. Both Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods are nearing 1,000 receiving yards on the season and both have 59 receptions. Defensively, the Rams are giving up 25.6 points and 372.5 yards per game. They do give up a lot, but create havoc as well with their front. Aaron Donald has 14.5 sacks to lead the unit.

NFL Betting Trends

Detroit

The Lions are 8-18 ATS in their last 26 games in December and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 against winning teams.

Los Angeles

The Rams are 8-2-1 against the spread in their last 11 games following a bye and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games in December.

Prediction:

This is a long trip for the Rams, but the Lions aren’t a team playing with much fire right now. The only way Detroit stays in this game is if the Rams overlook them. Given the Saints loss, I expect the Rams to come in focused. Their defense should get a lot of pressure on Stafford, who isn’t comfortable with his receivers right now and not using his big arm. The Lions offense will struggle to produce early while I would expect Goff and company to carve up the Detroit defense to establish a big lead early and hold on to cover from there.

NFL Prediction: Los Angeles Rams +10
