Los Angeles Rams Fantasy Spin
Todd Gurley rushed six times for 22 yards in the Rams' 45-6, Week 12 loss to the Ravens. He "added" three catches for -3 yards. Getting stomped from the opening kickoff, the Rams ran the ball eight times in this one. Gurley had arguably his best game of the season against the Bears in Week 11 with 27 touches. But if the Rams can't stay close on the scoreboard, Gurley is rendered useless. Things should be better next week in Arizona, but this Rams team is insanely bad. They're going to have trouble with Kyler Murray on a short week heading out on the road
Arizona Cardinals Fantasy Spin
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said he expects Chase Edmonds (hamstring) will play in Week 13. Kingsbury when asked if the Cardinals will get all of their RBs involved responded: "Definitely ... It's on us as an offensive staff to find different ways to get them involved and get them the football." The Cardinals have almost completely relegated David Johnson to the bench, as their long-time starting RB played just nine total snaps in Week 11 and failed to record a touch. Meanwhile, Kenyan Drake has been nothing short of spectacular since joining the squad in Week 9, as he's posted 41-212-1 rushing and 16-71-0 receiving lines over the Cardinals' past three games. Treat Drake as an upside RB3 in Week 13 against the Rams, but recognize we also likely haven't seen the last of the reshuffling in this backfield. There's a very real chance that we see each of Drake, Edmonds and Johnson receive a decent portion of snaps. This scenario could render each as low-floor fantasy options
NFL Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The under 11-3 in the Rams’ last 14 road games when facing an opponent that owns a losing record at home.
Arizona
The under is 9-2 in the Cardinals’ last 11 games after accumulating less than 150 yards passing in their previous contest.
Prediction
The under has been profitable in previous meetings between these two teams, cashing in five of the last seven matchups. That said, I like the over despite L.A.’s recent issues offensively. Arizona has offered a cure for what ails struggling offenses this season and outside of figuring out how to slow down Chandler Jones, the Rams offensive line shouldn’t have a ton of issues keeping the pocket clean for Jared Goff. That’s the primary problem for Goff, who has been harassed more this year than in each of the previous two seasons under coach Sean McVay. Meanwhile, the Rams defense struggled badly on Monday night and while Ravens signal-caller Lamar Jackson has made a lot of opponents look bad this season, I don’t think Los Angeles’ problems on that side of the ball were solely because of Jackson. Kyler Murray should have some room to run and make plays, much as he’s done all season.
