Bettors backing Lions over Eagles

Bettors backing Lions as slight home favorite vs. Eagles on Thanksgiving

The Detroit Lions have won back-to-back games and suddenly they're a favorite among pubic bettors. At least for Thanksgiving Day, that is.

Our NFL Public Betting page shows that 65% of public bettors are currently backing the Lions to cover the spread today versus the Eagles at 12:30PM ET. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag, Detroit is a 2.5-point favorite for today's Thanksgiving Day matchup, while the total currently sits at 46 points.

After failing to cover in four straight games and in seven of their first eight games to start the season, the Lions are now 2-0 against the number in their last two games. One of those games was an 18-16 outright win over the Packers as a 10.5-point road underdog at Lambeau Field and the other came last Sunday when the Lions beat the Raiders 18-13 as a 2-point home dog.

Perhaps bettors are buying into a Lions' turnaround. Or maybe they're just fading the Eagles, who haven't covered the spread in two straight games and are 1-3 against the number over their last four. After beating the Cowboys 33-27 in overtime three weeks on Sunday Night Football, Chip Kelly's squad lost 20-17 as a 5.5-point home favorite versus the Dolphins in Week 10, and were blown out 45-17 as a 7-point home favorite last Sunday versus the Bucs.
