Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, the Eagles are favored at home this weekend, as they are getting odds of -6 points against the Giants. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 47 points. The public betting for this game currently has 58 percent going on the Eagles at home.
Giants on surprise win streak
The New York Giants have put together back-to-back wins over the San Francisco 49ers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the last two weeks. New York is 3-7 overall, 4-5-1 against the spread and 5-5 with the over/under total. They have hit the over in two straight.
New York has not been strong on defense all year, giving up 26.3 points and 381.5 yards per game. Their run defense has been especially weak, allowing 125.4 yards per contest. Offensively, New York is putting up 21.5 points and 346.2 yards per game. Their rushing attack ranks 30th in the NFL, posting only 88.3 yards per game. Despite that, Saquon Barkley still has rushed for 728 yards and seven touchdowns while catching 64 passes for 540 yards and three scores. Eli Manning has thrown for 2,796 yards and 13 touchdowns with six interceptions. He has also been sacked 36 times. Odell Beckham Jr. has caught 69 passes for 932 yards and five scores.
Eagles lose two straight
The Philadelphia Eagles have lost two straight and three of their last four to really put themselves as longshots for the playoffs. The defending Super Bowl champs are now 4-6 overall, 3-7 against the spread and 6-4 with the under. They have hit the under in three of their last four games.
Philly hasn’t been great on either side of the ball this year. Their defense is giving up only 23.1 points per game, but allowing 377.9 yards per contest. Their pass defense ranks 26th in the league, allowing 276.5 yards per contest. On offense, the Eagles post 20.5 points and 355.2 yards per contest. Their run game has struggled to produce regularly. Wendell Smallwood is the team’s leading rusher with 257 yards. Carson Wentz leads the offense with 2,304 passing yards and 15 touchdowns while tight end Zach Ertz has caught 77 passes for 804 yards and five scores.
NFL Betting Trends
New York
The Giants are 4-1 with the over in their last five against losing teams and 5-2 with the under in their last seven division games.
Philadelphia
The Eagles have hit the under in eight of their last 10 home games and in five of their last six games following a loss.
Prediction:
The Eagles took it to the Giants on Oct. 11, 34-13, in New York. The two have had high-scoring games over the years, as they have hit the over in six straight meetings. Given the defensive struggles of both teams this year, I can see another over hitting on Sunday. Eli and the Giants have found their offensive stride in recent weeks against other poor defensive teams and the Eagles should be eager to bounce back on offense after being shut down by the Saints last week.
NFL Prediction: Giants/Eagles Over 47
