Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, the Vikings are the slim favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -3 points against the Packers. The over/under total for the contest is currently listed at 47.5 points. The public betting for this game currently has 72 percent going on the Packers on the road.

Packers taking road bumps

The Packers suffered a 27-24 loss at Seattle last week for their fifth straight loss on the road. Green Bay is now 4-5-1 overall, 4-5-1 against the spread and 6-4 with the over. The Packers have hit the under in three of their last four games.

Green Bay is middle of the road on both offense and defense this year. Defensively, the team is giving up 24.3 points and 349.1 yards per game. Their run defense ranks 26th in the league, allowing 126.1 yards per game. Offensively, the Packers put up 24.7 points and 398.8 yards per game. Aaron Rodgers has thrown for 3,073 yards and 19 touchdowns with just one interception. However, he has been sacked 30 times. Davante Adams has caught 72 passes for 953 yards and nine touchdowns while Aaron Jones has 534 rushing yards and five scores.

Vikings fall at Chicago

Minnesota played last Sunday night as well, falling 25-20 to Chicago in a big NFC North contest. The Vikings have lost two of their last three games. They are now 5-4-1 on the season, 5-4-1 against the spread and 5-5 with the over/under total.

Minnesota is still a pretty good defensive team this year, allowing just 22.9 points and 320.8 yards per game. The unit has 32 sacks with 17 forced turnovers. Danielle Hunter has 11.5 sacks this year to lead the defense. Offensively, Minnesota is averaging 24.1 points and 363.7 yards per game. Their run offense ranks 31st in the NFL with just 84.7 yards per game. Dalvin Cook has returned recently and has 199 yards rushing on the year. Kirk Cousins is leading the offense with 2,947 yards and 19 touchdowns while Adam Thielen has 85 catches for 1,013 yards and seven touchdowns. Thielen is dealing with a calf injury, but is expected to play this weekend.

NFL Betting Trends

Green Bay

The Packers have hit the over in four straight division games and in 21 of their last 26 conference games.

Minnesota

The Vikings have hit the under in four of their last five home games and in 19 of their last 26 division games.

Prediction:

These two had a 29-29 tie early in the season at Green Bay, but I expect this game to be much more low-scoring. The Vikings defense is pretty consistent this year and their pass rush should cause problems for Rodgers. Minnesota’s offense can’t seem to get out of its own way sometimes. They seem to make some crucial mistakes to end potential scoring drives. They haven’t been terribly great over their last three weeks and I think they will rely on defense to try and win this game.

NFL Prediction: Packers/Vikings Under 47.5
