Buccaneers vs. Chiefs Prediction

NFL Predictions: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Kansas City Chiefs 11/20/16

Will the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers get themselves into a high-scoring battle when they meet up today at 1PM ET?

According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, Kansas City is favored at home, as the Chiefs are getting odds of -7.5 points against the Bucs. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 44.5 points. Tampa Bay has won four straight in this series and the two have hit the over in three straight meetings.

Kansas City has won five straight entering this week following a 20-17 win at Carolina last week. The Chiefs are now 7-2 on the season and 7-2 with the under. They have hit the under in each game of this current win streak. The unders are hitting due to the KC defense, which is holding opponents to just 18.7 points per game despite allowing 378.8 yards per contest. The unit has 18 sacks and 22 turnovers this year. Dee Ford has 10 sacks to lead the group while Marcus Peters has five interceptions and three fumble recoveries. Offensively KC is putting up 22.8 points and 347 yards per game. They are averaging under 100 rushing yards per game as Spencer Ware has 572 yards to lead the team. Alex Smith has thrown for 1,816 yards and eight touchdowns this year, but could be without top receiver Jeremy Maclin again. Maclin hasn’t practiced all week due to a groin injury that kept him out of last week’s game as well.

Bet on Bucs vs. Chiefs

Tampa Bay is coming off a 36-10 win over the Bears at home last week to move to 4-5 on the season. The Bucs are 6-3 with the over this season, hitting it in their last four games. The Tampa defense has struggled this year, allowing 26.9 points and 400.2 yards per game, including 281.9 passing yards per contest. Despite the struggles in giving up points and yards, the unit has 21 sacks and 15 turnovers. On offense Tampa is averaging 24 points and 374.2 yards per game. Jameis Winston has thrown for 2,349 yards and 19 touchdowns in his second year while Mike Evans has caught 59 passes for 811 yards and eight touchdowns. Tampa hasn’t had a great run game, but the team is hoping to get Doug Martin back this week. He has 118 yards and a score in his limited action this year.

Will the strength of the Bucs’ offense outweigh the strength of the KC defense? That is the real issue here. The Chiefs have given up 21 points to a team like the Saints, 43 to the Steelers and 27 to the Chargers. I could see Tampa having some success today, especially if KC is able to jump out early on the poor Tampa defense. I like the Chiefs to score early and force the Bucs to have to throw early and often, which will lead to some garbage points in the second half.
