Jaguars vs. Browns Prediction
Are the Jacksonville Jaguars a good bet to cover the point spread as a road favorite today versus the Cleveland Browns at 1:00 p.m. ET?
Who Oddsmakers Like: Jacksonville. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Jaguars are 7.5-point road favorites to beat the Browns, who opened as a 7-point home underdog. As for the total, the number currently sits at 37 points after opening at 38.
Who the Public Likes: As of Sunday morning, just over 60% of betting tickets are on the Jaguars to cover the spread.
Who the Trends Like: Jacksonville. The home team is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams.
Who We Like: Jacksonville. I can't justify backing Cleveland. The Browns rushed for 201 yards and quarterback DeShone Kizer had the best game of his young career and this horse crap team still found a way to lose by 14 points to Detroit. Now Kizer will face the No. 3 defense ni the NFL, including the No. 1 pass defense in the NFL. No thanks.
I love home underdogs because they usually provide value for bettors. The exception is the Browns, who are just 3-12 against the spread as a home dog. They're also 1-9-1 against the number over the last three years as a home team facing a defense allowing more than 16.3 yards per point.
Leonard Fournette or no Leonard Fournette (he's questionable with an ankle injury), I'm taking the Jaguars and laying the touchdown. They have something to play for, they have a decided edge defensively, and they're playing a team that consistently finds ways to lose.
