Bills vs. Chargers Prediction
Will the Los Angeles Chargers hand the Buffalo Bills another loss in Nathan Peterman's debut? The two teams will meet in L.A. at 4:05 p.m. ET.
Who Oddsmakers Like: Los Angeles. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Chargers are 6-point home favorites versus the Bills, who opened as 4-point underdogs. The total, meanwhile, sits at 41 points after hitting the board at 44.
Who the Public Likes: Los Angeles. As of Sunday morning, just over 50% of tickets were on the Chargers to cover the point spread.
Who the Trends Like: The home team is 5-1 against the spread in the last six meetings between these two teams. The Bills are also just 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five games overall while the Chargers have covered in four of the last five games overall.
Who We Like: Los Angeles. Sean McDermott is taking a big gamble by starting the rookie Peterman over Tyrod Taylor, who isn't anywhere close to the main reason why the Bills are struggling right now. The offense has struggled, yes, but the defense has been a disaster.
Since Week 5, the Bills are allowing 28.4 points per game, are allowing 403 yards per contest, and 6.07 yards per play. They're also getting gashed on the ground, surrendering 4.39 yards per rush, and can't get off the field on third down, as their third down percentage is 43.5% (25th in the NFL).
The Chargers don't scream confidence right now but I'll take a home team facing a rookie quarterback making his first start on the road, as well as a struggling defense. Philip Rivers has been cleared to play so there shouldn't be any issues at quarterback for the Bolts.
