Chicago Bears Fantasy Spin
Mitchell Trubisky completed 16 of 23 passes for 173 yards and three touchdowns while scrambling for an additional eight yards on three carries Sunday in the Bears’ Week 10 win over Detroit. Trubisky was dropped for five sacks, resulting in a loss of 28 yards. The former second overall pick engineered a touchdown drive late in the first half, capping the Bears' 10-play, 80-yard march with an 18-yard dart to backup tight end Ben Braunecker with 25 seconds to go in the second quarter. He also slung touchdown throws to Tarik Cohen (nine yards) and Taylor Gabriel (24 yards) with both of those breakthroughs coming in the third quarter. Trubisky cooled off down the stretch as Chicago wound up punting on its last five possessions. Below-average in every aspect except for his mobility, Trubisky has surprisingly feasted on Detroit, gutting the Lions for seven touchdowns (six passing, one rushing) in his last two starts against them. The win snapped a four-game losing skid for the Bears, who will take a 4-5 record into next week's primetime showdown with the Rams in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Rams Fantasy Spin
When asked about Todd Gurley's relatively light workload in Week 10, Rams coach Sean McVay said, "That was just kind of the rotation." He didn't see the ball at all in the fourth quarter, logging his final touch of the afternoon with a minute to go in the third quarter. Gurley wasn't benched—he was in on 11 of L.A.'s 17 fourth-quarter snaps—but the Rams didn't call any plays for him. Game script may have played a role in Gurley's scarce usage as the Rams were playing from behind at Pittsburgh, though it's still surprising Los Angeles would go away from its star running back at such a pivotal juncture. Even with the abbreviated workload, Gurley still had one of his better rushing performances of the season, averaging 6.1 yards per carry while logging his most rushing yards (73) since Week 1.
NFL Betting Trends
Chicago
The under is 8-1 in the Bears’ last nine games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.
Los Angeles
The under is 5-1 in the Rams’ last six games after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.
Prediction
The Rams offense has really struggled, thanks in large part to poor play along the offensive line. Jared Goff has struggled because of the poor protection and Sean McVay doesn’t seem to have a successful counter to opponents taking away the Rams’ outside zone rushing attack. Meanwhile, the Bears continue to be handcuffed by quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who simply isn’t a NFL quarterback. With no running game to take pressure off Trubisky, the Bears offense will continue to struggle. First team to 17 points on Sunday night might win.
