Packers vs. Patriots Total Prediction
Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady will clash on Sunday Night Football this weekend when the New England Patriots host the Green Bay Packers at 8:20 p.m. ET. Is the betting total set too high for this matchup?
Game Snapshot
471 Green Bay Packers at 472 New England Patriots
8:20 p.m. ET, Sunday, November 4
Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts
Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Patriots are 5.5-point favorites to beat the Packers. The total, meanwhile, sits at 56.5 points. As of this writing, 51% of the public betting tickets are on the Patriots to cover the point spread.
Green Bay Packers
Randall Cobb (hamstring) remained limited at Thursday's practice. Cobb returned to action last week following a two-game absence. The Rams limited him to just four catches for 40 yards on five targets. Even with six teams on bye, Cobb won't be any better than a bottom-barrel WR4 when he lines up Sunday against New England.
New England Patriots
Sony Michel (knee) remained "limited" on Thursday. His status still can't be taken for granted, but Michel is looking likely to return after missing only one game. This being the Patriots, we might not know for sure until Sunday, which is bad news since the Pats are playing on Sunday Night Football. If Michel returns, he will be on the RB1/2 borderline against the Packers.
NFL Betting Trends
Green Bay
The over is 10-1 in the Packers’ last 11 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game.
New England
The over is 4-1 in the Patriots’ last five games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.
Prediction
The over is 23-7 in the Packers’ last 30 games overall, is 35-16 in their last 51 road games and is 13-3 in their last 16 games coming off an ATS win. The Packers also just traveled to Los Angeles and then had to fly to the other coast to take on the Patriots in Foxborough. That’s a lot of travel for what could be a tired defense. Meanwhile, the over is 4-1 in the Patriots’ last five games coming off a win and 25-8 in their last 33 home games versus a team with a losing road record.
NFL Week 9 Prediction: Packers/Patriots over 56.5
