Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Chiefs are 10-point favorites to beat the Broncos. The total, meanwhile, sits at 53.5 points. As of this writing, 60% of the public betting tickets are on the Chiefs to cover the point spread.
Denver Broncos
Demaryius Thomas (wrist) is practicing in full for Week 8 against the Chiefs. Thomas must have picked up the injury last week at Arizona. Regardless, he'll be all systems go for Sunday's divisional game against the Chiefs. Thomas posted a sluggish 4-24-0 line when he faced Kansas City earlier this month.
Kansas City Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes completed 28-of-39 passes for 358 yards with four touchdowns and an interception in the Chiefs' Week 7 win over the Bengals, adding four rushes for 45 yards. Mahomes’ first two touchdowns were dumpoffs to Kareem Hunt. He hit a wide open Demetrius Harris and Tyreek Hill in the red-zone for his other scores. Mahomes underthrew Hill on a deep shot for his interception but was otherwise flawless in the blowout win. Mahomes is playing at an MVP level with a 22:5 TD/INT ratio through seven games. Even in a tough matchup with Denver, he's a top-five quarterback play for Week 8.
NFL Betting Trends
Denver
The under is 5-1 in the Broncos’ last six games after allowing less than 15 points in their previous contest.
Kansas City
The over is 4-1 in the Chiefs’ last eight games after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.
Prediction
The over is 5-1-1 in the last seven meetings between these two teams and is 4-1 in the last five meetings at Arrowhead Stadium. The over is also 6-2 in the Broncos’ last eight road games versus an opponent with a winning home record and 21-10-1 against the number in the last 32 games after scoring more than 30 points in their previous game. We know Patrick Mahomes and Co. can light up the scoreboard and Denver’s defense has not been great on the road this season. With the way the Broncos were moving the ball against KC’s defense a few weeks ago in Denver, I like both teams to score enough to hit the over.
