Chargers vs. Raiders Prediction

Following their first victory of the season, will the Chargers cover as a road underdog this afternoon when they visit the Raiders at 4:25PM ET?

The Odds: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Raiders are now 3.5-point home favorites to beat the Chargers, who opened as a 4-point underdog. As for the total, the number hit the board at 50.5 but has been bet down a full point to 49.5 at the majority of online sports books.

Los Angeles Chargers: The road team is 5-0 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams and the underdog is 14-2 against the number in the last 16 meetings. The Chargers are also 10-4 at the betting window in their last 14 trips to Oakland but have failed to cover in 11 of their last 16 games overall versus the Raiders. As of this writing, 57% of public bettors are backing the Chargers in this game.

Bet NFL Week 6 Games

Oakland Raiders: The Raiders have covered in five of their last seven home games, are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games played in Week 6, and are 8-3 at the betting window in their last 11 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous contest. That said, they're just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games overall and 2-5 against the number in their last seven divisional matchups.

WHO COVERS: Derek Carr or no Derek Carr, I like the value here for the Chargers. They picked up a much-needed come-from-behind win last Sunday against the Giants in New York. They still have a ton of issues on both sides of the ball, but Melvin Gordon is off to another great start and Philip Rivers has had plenty of success in Oakland recently, passing for 949 yards and eight touchdowns with only two interceptions in his last three starts there. The Raiders aren’t firing on all cylinders offensively and Carr might not be 100 percent, even if he does start. If the Chargers don’t win outright, I like them to keep it within a field goal.
