Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Patriots are 3.5-point favorites to beat the Chiefs. The total, meanwhile, sits at 58 points. As of this writing, 54% of the public betting tickets are on the Patriots to cover the point spread.
Kansas City Chiefs
Eric Berry (heel) is doubtful for Week 6 against the Patriots. Berry has yet to practice this season. With Eric Murray out and Armani Watts on IR, the Chiefs are running thin in the secondary. Justin Houston (hamstring) is also doubtful so the Chiefs defense will once again be compromised.
New England Patriots
Sony Michel (questionable, knee) is expected to play Week 6 against the Chiefs. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hedged by calling him a "game-time decision," though the expectation is that Michel will play along with teammates Josh Gordon (hamstring), Rob Gronkowski (ankle) and Chris Hogan (thigh), who are also listed as questionable. The rookie has topped 100 yards from scrimmage in back-to-back games while settling in as a weekly starter in fantasy. Despite losing passing-down reps to James White, Michel remains a solid RB2 in all formats.
NFL Betting Trends
Kansas City
The Chiefs are 5-0 against the spread in their last five games overall and have covered four straight on the road.
New England
The Patriots are 35-14-2 against the spread in their last 51 home games and are 39-19-2 ATS in their last 60 games overall.
Prediction
Football is about matchups and I don’t like this matchup for either defense. Without Houston, the Chiefs are down one of their best defenders and their top pass rushers. Despite what they showed a week ago against the Jaguars, this is not a good defense so losing Houston is problematic against Brady tonight. On the other side, the Pats don’t have the speed to hang with Tyreek Hill, Kareem Hunt, Sammy Watkins and Travis Kelce. I see this being a field goal either way, so I love that the hook is attached with the undefeated Chiefs.
