Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Eagles are 3-point favorites to beat the Vikings. The total, meanwhile, sits at 47 points. As of this writing, 54% of the public betting tickets are on the Eagles to cover the point spread.
Minnesota Vikings
Vikings CB Trae Waynes (concussion) is out for Week 5 against the Eagles. Waynes was concussed in last week's loss to the Rams and remains in the league's protocol. With Waynes on the shelf, the Vikings will likely turn to Mike Hughes opposite Xavier Rhodes on the perimeter with Mackenzie Alexander playing his usual role in the slot.
Philadelphia Eagles
Alshon Jeffery (chest) wasn't listed on the Eagles' final injury report for Week 5 against the Vikings. Alshon got a maintenance day on Wednesday before returning to full practice on both Thursday and Friday. Jeffery impressed with 105 yards and a touchdown in his season debut last week at Tennessee, though he'll have his work cut out for him Sunday against All-Pro corner Xavier Rhodes. He's RotoPat's No. 26 wide receiver for Week 5.
NFL Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Vikings are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games in Philadelphia and are 2-7 against the number in their last nine games versus the Eagles overall.
Philadelphia
The Eagles are 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 home games.
Prediction
I see the Eagles circling the wagons here. They’re coming home off a rough loss in overtime to the Titans and while their offense has struggled, that’s mainly because Carson Wentz hasn’t shaken off the rust yet. Meanwhile, the Vikings get an extra few days of rest and preparation after playing on Thursday night but their defense hasn’t looked right the past few weeks. I’ll lay the small number with the defending champs.
