Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri
Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Chiefs are 3-point favorites to beat the Jaguars. The total, meanwhile, sits at 49 points. As of this writing, 58% of the public betting tickets are on the Chiefs to cover the point spread.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Leonard Fournette (hamstring) is out for Week 5 against the Chiefs. As expected. Fournette is week to week with his latest hamstring pull and seems very likely to miss multiple games. T.J. Yeldon and Corey Grant will continue to fill the void, while Blake Bortles will be tasked with more responsibility to move the offense. They get the Chiefs on a short week after an emotional come-from-behind divisional win. Bortles has some sneaky Week 5 upside.
Kansas City Chiefs
Sammy Watkins (hamstring) remained "limited" on Thursday. Watkins is tentatively on track to suit up after tweaking his hamstring on Thursday night, though he's never been the most predictable when it comes to injuries. Watkins would be valuable even as a decoy against the Jags' elite secondary. Attention he occupies would be attention that could not be devoted to Tyreek Hill and Chris Conley.
NFL Betting Trends
Jacksonville
The under is 10-4 in the Jaguars’ last 14 games versus AFC opponents.
Kansas City
The under is 45-20 in the Chiefs’ last 65 home games.
Prediction
Don’t just assume that because the Jaguars have the No. 1 defense in the NFL that this one won’t be high-scoring. They’ll be without Leonard Fournette but T.J. Yeldon is more than capable of ripping apart the worst defense in the NFL. Plus, Patrick Mahomes and Co. can score on anyone. They have too many playmakers to be held in check and remember, we don’t need them to score 38 points to hit the over. A 27-24 final gets us there.
