Saints Fantasy Football Angle
Drew Brees completed 18-of-30 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns in the Saints' 34-23 win over the Bucs in Week 1. Brees continually checked down against Tampa, targeting Michael Thomas just five times. Sean Payton's Taysom Hill project continues to be an irritant for those who roster Brees, and the continued threat of Hill taking snaps near the end zone could be an issue for Brees this season. It will be tough to bench Brees in Week 2 against the Raiders.
Raiders Fantasy Football Angle
Derek Carr completed 22-of-30 passes for 239 yards and one TD in the Raiders' 34-30, Week 1 win over the Panthers. Carr's touchdown was a beautiful fadeaway 23-yard endzone lob to Nelson Agholor, with the quarterback perfectly placing the pass over good coverage. Carr even attempted two other downfield passes, both to Henry Ruggs III. The Raiders were in command of this contest for three quarters, so Carr was not forced to overextend himself. He is not a wise start against the Saints in Week 2.
Saints vs. Raiders Betting Prediction
Despite playing in a high-scoring game last Sunday in Carolina, the under is 6-2 in the Raiders’ last eight games dating back to last season. The under is also 12-5-1 in the Raiders’ last 18 games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous game and has cashed the last four times the team has played on Monday night. On the other side, the under is 10-4 in the Saints’ last 14 contests after scoring more than 30 points in their previous game and is 4-1 the last five times when playing the second game of the season.
SAINTS VS. RAIDERS MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL PREDICTION: UNDER 48.5
