Chargers vs. Rams Total Prediction
It’ll be the battle of L.A. on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET when the Rams host the Chargers. These two offenses can score but given the Rams’ stout defense, will the combined score be enough to go over the betting total?
Game Snapshot
481 Los Angeles Chargers at 482 Los Angeles Rams
4:05 p.m. ET, Sunday, September 23
Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles, CA
Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Rams are 7-point favorites to beat the Chargers. The total, meanwhile, sits at 48 points. As of this writing, 64% of the public betting tickets are on the Rams to cover the point spread.
Los Angeles Chargers
Melvin Gordon (neck) is practicing in full for Week 3 against the Rams. Gordon suffered the injury late in Sunday's win at Buffalo, though obviously, it was nothing serious. Coming off last week's three-touchdown performance, Gordon belongs in the RB1 discussion for Week 3, even in a tough matchup against the 2-0 Rams.
Los Angeles Rams
Coach Sean McVay said K Greg Zuerlein (groin) will be out "at least a few weeks." Zuerlein injured his groin at the end of pregame warmups ahead of Week 2. He's not going on I.R. for the time being, as the Rams will try to wait it out. Fantasy owners can cut bait though, unless your roster has an injury spot. Los Angeles brought back K Sam Ficken on Monday while Zuerlein is out.
NFL Betting Trends
L.A. Chargers
The under is 6-1 in the Chargers’ last seven road games and is 10-3 in their last 13 games overall.
L.A. Rams
The under is 6-2 in the Rams’ last eight home games but the over is 4-1 in their last five games coming off a win.
Prediction
The Rams own one of the league’s top defenses so scoring will be an issue against them most weeks. That said, the Chargers have put together back-to-back impressive performances offensively, albeit against the Chiefs and Bills. There’s no question that the Bolts will be tested for the first time this season but in Gordon, Philip Rivers and Keenan Allen I trust. Meanwhile, the Rams should have no problem moving the ball against a defense that was shredded by Patrick Mahomes in Week 1 and actually allowed 20 points to the Bills last Sunday in Buffalo.
