Packers tie Vikings
The Green Bay Packers tied the Minnesota Vikings last week, 29-29 to move to 1-0-1 on the year. Green Bay had the game in hand but a roughing the passer call late allowed the game to go to OT. Green Bay is 1-1 against the spread through two games while hitting the over.
The Packers are putting up 26.5 points and 394.5 yards per game on offense this year. Aaron Rodgers has thrown for 567 yards and four touchdowns on the season despite dealing with a sprained left knee. He has spread the ball out well, as four players have over 100 receiving yards. On the ground, Jamaal Williams is the leading rusher with 106 yards. Defensively, Green Bay is giving up 26 points and 401.5 yards per game this year. They are allowing nearly 300 passing yards per game.
Redskins slip up at home
After an impressive road win against the Cardinals in Week 1, the Washington Redskins took a step back last week with a 21-9 loss at home to the Colts. They are now 1-1 on the season with a 1-1 mark against the spread. The Redskins have hit the under in both contests.
The Skins have been pretty strong defensively, allowing just 13.5 points and 252 yards per game thus far. They have created four turnovers and have three sacks as a unit. Offensively, Washington is putting up 397 yards per game despite averaging just 16.5 points. Quarterback Alex Smith has thrown for 547 yards and two touchdowns through two games while Adrian Peterson is leading the Skins on the ground with 116 yards and a touchdown.
NFL Betting Trends
The Packers have hit the over in 24 of their last 31 games overall and in 19 of their last 26 conference contests.
The Redskins have hit the under in their last six games on grass and in four straight games following a loss.
There is potential for this game to turn into a shootout, but I think the Redskins defense is legit and will give some problems to Rodgers and the Packers. Even though the Green Bay defense has struggled, Washington is a composed offense that will eat up clock and slowly move down the field under Smith. I think this game will be a grind for both teams and be relatively low scoring.
NFL Prediction: Packers/Redskins Under 45.5
