Miami Dolphins Fantasy Spin
Josh Rosen has been named the Dolphins' starting quarterback for Week 3 against the Cowboys. Coach Brian Flores made the decision Thursday afternoon. Ryan Fitzpatrick fared disastrously during his two-week reign as starter, compiling a miserable 39.9 quarterback rating with four interceptions, two of which were housed for scores. It makes sense for the Dolphins to see what they have in Rosen, though it's hard to imagine him succeeding with so few weapons at his disposal. Fitzpatrick spent most of his first two games running for his life behind the Dolphins' anemic offensive line and Rosen is headed for the same fate. Even in two-quarterback settings, Rosen won't carry much fantasy weight.
Dallas Cowboys Fantasy Spin
Dak Prescott completed 26-of-30 passes for 269 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception, adding a very nice 69 yards on five carries in Dallas' 31-21 Week 2 win over Washington. Prescott's Week 2 outing makes him 51-of-62 (82.5 percent) for 674 yards and seven scores in his first two starts under new OC Kellen Moore. Prescott started a worrisome 4-of-7 for 19 yards and a pick out the gates but didn't throw a single incompletion in the second half, hitting a total of eight receivers in all. Even in starting slow, Prescott's five carries were a nod to the numerous ways he adds fantasy value in Dallas' new and improved offensive scheme. He's easily been one of fantasy's most valuable players through two weeks, and that shouldn't change against the Dolphins' rebuilding defense in Week 3.
NFL Betting Trends
Miami
The under is 5-1 in the Dolphins’ last six games coming off a loss and is 4-1 in their last five games following a double-digit loss at home.
Dallas
The over is 5-0 in the Cowboys’ last five games overall and is 7-2 in their last nine home contests.
Prediction
The Dolphins have been terrible on both sides of the ball and it’s unlikely that Rosen will snap the team out of its offensive malaise. That said, Miami’s defense is so bad that Dallas should do most of the heavy lifting in rout to bettors cashing the over. The Dolphins rank dead last in defense, allowing 51.0 points per game, 511 yards, 316.5 passing yards and 194.5 rushing yards per game. They’re atrocious and the Cowboys should move the ball consistently throughout the game.
