Titans vs. Lions Prediction
Can the Detroit Lions build off a road win last week when they host the Tennessee Titans today at 1PM ET?
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Lions are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -6 points against the Titans. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 47.5 points. The Titans have won four straight meetings with the Lions and covered the spread in the last three encounters.
The Lions built off a 6-2 finish to last season by picking up a 39-35 win at Indianapolis last week. The Lions were a 2.5-point underdog in the game and they have now covered in four straight regular season games. Detroit had an encouraging performance from their run game, putting up 116 yards on 24 carries with two touchdowns. The Lions ranked last in the NFL last season in rushing. Matthew Stafford had one of the best games of his career in the victory, going 31 of 39 passing for 340 yards and three touchdowns. Despite the win, the Lions did give up 450 total yards to the Colts on defense.
The Titans opened the season with a 25-16 loss at home to the Vikings. They failed to cover in the loss and they have lost against the spread in five straight regular season games. Tennessee didn’t actually give up an offensive touchdown in the loss, as both of Minnesota’s touchdowns came on defense. The Titans held Minnesota to just 301 total yards, but the offense could only produce 316 yards and had three turnovers. Marcus Mariota threw for 271 yards and two scores to lead the team, but the Tennessee run game was held to 64 yards on 22 carries.

On paper, this game seems like one the Lions can handle. If anything, it seems like a game that they should be able to make a statement and prove that they can contend for a playoff spot. However, the Lions franchise has never been good with expectations. Letdowns are pretty common after wins, especially uplifting road wins. The offense will likely struggle against this Tennessee defense and the Detroit defense should help the Titans get back on track on the ground. Detroit may end up winning, but this game will come right down to the end.
