Seahawks vs. Bears Spread Prediction

Seattle Seahawks vs. Chicago Bears, 9/17/18 Predictions & Odds

A pair of teams looking to avoid a 0-2 start to the season will meet on Monday Night Football when the Chicago Bears host the Seattle Seahawks at 8:15 p.m. ET. Laying 4.5 points, is Chicago the right play tonight against this banged-up Seattle team?

Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Bears are 4.5-point favorites to beat the Seahawks. The total, meanwhile, sits at 42.5 points. As of this writing, 55% of the public betting tickets are on the Seahawks to cover the point spread.

Seattle Seahawks

Seahawks MLB Bobby Wagner (groin) has been ruled out for Week 2. Wagner didn't practice all week. The early rule out suggests he could be looking at a multi-game absence. Seattle is also down LB K.J. Wright (knee) and CB Tre Flowers (hamstring) for Monday night's matchup in Chicago.

Chicago Bears

Mitchell Trubisky wants to focus on "better pocket awareness, calm feet in the pocket (and) trusting his eyes."

The second game of the second year of his pro career seems like a good time to start focusing on these basic fundamentals. Trubisky was utterly horrendous against the Packers in Week 1, generating a pathetic 72 yards on 26 attempts after the first quarter. If anything, Trubisky might need to go more off script and make more plays outside the pocket and with his legs.

NFL Betting Trends

Seattle

The Seahawks are 0-3-1 against the spread in their last four games played in September.

Chicago

The Bears are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall.

Prediction

The Seahawks surrendered over 400 yards of offense to the Broncos last week in Denver and that was with Wagner. With Wagner, KJ Wright and Doug Baldwin out, I don’t see how the Seahawks keep pace tonight. There’s no doubt that Russell Wilson will have his moments tonight – he always does. But Seattle’s offensive line remains a massive problem and for as good as Wilson is, he can’t overcome a poor offensive line without Baldwin. Khalil Mack and Co. should feast on this Seattle defense and I expect the Bears to move the ball just fine against this depleted Seattle defense.

NFL Week 2 Prediction: Chicago Bears -4.5
