Browns vs. Jets MNF Prediction
The Browns suffered an ugly loss to the Titans in Week 1 but will have a golden opportunity to even their record when they take on the Sam Darnold-less Jets tonight on Monday Night Football. That said, will Cleveland cover?
Game Snapshot
289 Cleveland Browns at 290 New York Jets
8:15 p.m. ET, Monday, September 16, 2019
MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ
According to our NFL Public Betting Chart page, the Browns are drawing 60% of the betting tickets ahead of tonight’s game. The line has jumped from 3 to 6.5 due to Darnold’s injury situation.
Cleveland Browns Fantasy Spin
The Browns ruled out FS Damarious Randall (concussion) against the Jets in Week 2. Randall came in with concussion symptoms on Saturday, and the Browns quickly ruled him out. Luckily the Browns are facing a Trevor Siemian-led Jets offense this week, but they were just picked apart by Marcus Mariota last week. Randall is questionable for Week 3 against the Rams.
New York Jets Fantasy Spin
Demaryius Thomas (hamstring) is officially questionable for Week 2 against the Browns. Thomas is truly questionable after not practicing all week. Even if he suits up, he's not a recommended play with Trevor Siemian. The 31-year-old is a candidate to replace Quincy Enunwa's snaps whenever he gets cleared to play.
Cleveland
The favorite is a perfect 9-0 against the spread in the last nine meetings between these two teams, but the Browns have failed to cover in five of their last six meetings with the Jets overall.
New York
The Jets are 0-4 against the spread in their last four games in September and are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games overall.
Prediction:
The spread for this game jumped from 3 to 6.5 following the news that Darnold is out with mono. Trevor Siemian isn’t a capable full-time starter but on a part-time basis, he’s more than capable of moving the offense for the Jets. Le’Veon Bell also looked like his patient self in Week 1 and if New York can get its ground game working, there’s no reason to believe the Jets will get blown out tonight. You know Gregg Williams will be fired up to try and ruin Baker Mayfield and the Browns’ night as well. Williams, of course, coordinated the Browns’ defense and became the interim head coach last year once Hue Jackson was fired.
NFL WEEK 2 PREDICTION: New York Jets +6.5
