Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Jets are 3-point favorites to beat the Dolphins. The total, meanwhile, sits at 42.5 points. As of this writing, 65% of the public betting tickets are on the Jets to cover the point spread.
Miami Dolphins
DeVante Parker (finger) is questionable for Week 2 against the Jets. It's surprising the Dolphins are listing him this way after Parker returned to full practice on Thursday. Regardless of his status, Parker should be a go for Sunday's game in East Rutherford. Parker played well in his lone game against the Jets last year, turning in eight catches for 76 yards and a touchdown. Still, he's a risky start coming off a long absence.
New York Jets
Sam Darnold praised Quincy Enunwa, saying "it's awesome to be able to throw to him." "He's smooth but he is also physical," Darnold said. "He is very sudden, a very quick dude. It's awesome to be able to throw to him. The routes he runs are very crisp, but very violent. It's cool to be able to ... see how much separation he creates for himself." Enunwa was targeted on 10-of-21 Darnold passes in the opener, putting Enunwa safely on the WR3 map as a high-floor play.
NFL Betting Trends
Miami
The Dolphins are 1-5-1 against the spread in their last seven games versus AFC East rivals and are winless at the betting window in their last five road games.
New York
The Jets are 3-1-1 against the spread in their last five divisional games and are 10-4-1 against the number in their last 15 games overall.
Prediction
Not that the Dolphins are suddenly a playoff contender or anything but I think this is a nice buy-low opportunity on Miami. The Lions didn’t have the pieces to take advantage of the Jets’ weaknesses along the offensively and New York presumably won’t have Ryan Tannehill’s signals like it had Matthew Stafford’s and the Lions. Things won’t come as easily to the Jets this time around and they’re playing on a short week. I’m taking the points in this divisional matchup and fading the public.
