Saints vs. Rams Week 2 Prediction

The Saints snatched victory out of the jaws of defeat on Monday night and will look to improve to 2-0 on the season when they visit the Rams at 4:25 p.m. ET. Will they now avenge their loss to the Rams in the NFC title game last season?

Public Betting Trends

According to our NFL Football Public Betting Chart page, the Rams are receiving 54% of the betting tickets from online sportsbooks.

New Orleans Saints Fantasy Spin

Ted Ginn (illness) did not practice Wednesday. Ginn has plenty of time to shake whatever bug he has, but it's an injury report worth monitoring for both Ginn and Tre'Quan Smith fantasy owners. Last week, Ginn was targeted seven times and would be a WR5 in Los Angeles against the Rams if he's cleared.

Los Angeles Rams Fantasy Spin

Rams S Eric Weddle has cleared the concussion protocol and is good to go for the team's Week 2 matchup against the Saints. Weddle's presence is bad news for the Saints' passing game, particularly TE Jared Cook. Still, Cook was used more as a WR than TE in Week 1, lining up in the slot or out wide on 76% of his snaps -- the highest mark among all starting TEs.

NFL Betting Trends

New Orleans

The Saints are 20-7 against the spread in their last 27 road games but have failed to cover in all five of their last five games when coming off an ATS loss.

Los Angeles

The Rams have covered the spread in five of their last six games overall and are 5-0 against the number in their last five conference games.

Prediction

Jared Goff struggled last Sunday in Charlotte but there’s no reason to believe he won’t have a bounce back performance in Week 2. If Monday night was any indication, the Saints’ two-minute defense still has major problems and if this game comes down to the wire and the Rams have the ball, I feel confident that Goff and Co. will succeed in the clutch. Todd Gurley looked healthy last week too, which is critical to the Rams’ success. When they needed to respond after the Panthers got within three points, Gurley became the focal point of the offense and he moved L.A. down the field for a game-clinching score. The Rams are also 5-0 against the spread in their last five home games versus the Saints, who are just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 meetings with L.A.

NFL Week 2 Prediction: Los Angeles Rams -2
