Will the Detroit Lions struggle to match their nine-win season from a year ago?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Lions have an over/under of 7.5 for number of wins in 2017. They're also 75/1 to win the Super Bowl, have odds of 30/1 to win the NFC Conference Championship, and are 6/1 to win the NFC North Division.

The Lions shelled out a whopping $47.5 million to sign former Ravens right tackle Ricky Wagner to a five-year contract. They also handed former Packers guard T.J. Lang $28.5 million over three years and signed former Bucs defensive tackle Akeem Spence to a three-year, $9 million contract.

In the draft, the Lions selected Florida linebacker Jarrad Davis with the 21st overall pick in the first round. They came back in the second with another defender in Davis' teammate Teez Tabor and in the third, they took Northern Illinois wideout Kenny Golladay. With a pair of selections in the fourth round, Detroit took Tennessee linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin and Toledo tight end Michael Roberts.

OUR PREDICTION: I don't think the Lions win nine games again in 2017. Injuries are already mounting at key positions, including left tackle and pass-rusher. Matthew Stafford proved a year ago that he could be efficient without Calvin Johnson, but I don't know if he has enough help. Can Ameer Abdullah stay healthy? Will the additions along the offensive line make a huge difference if Greg Robinson is a turnstile at left tackle? Is the secondary good enough to overcome what could be a weak pass-rush? This team isn't the Jets, but I see them more an 7-9 squad than a 9-win team.
