Will the Houston Roughnecks stay unbeaten in XFL play and also cover the spread on Sunday? Or will the Dallas Renegades prove to be too much for P.J. Walker and Co. when the two teams meet at 4:00 p.m. ET on Sunday?

Houston Roughnecks Latest

After downing the L.A. Wildcats 37-17 in Week 1 and beating the St. Louis Battlehawks 28-24 in Week 2, the Roughnecks got their first road win of the season when they beat the Tampa Bay Vipers, 34-27. The aforementioned Walker completed 24-of-36 passes for 306 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in the win, while James Butler rushed seven times for 72 yards and Cam Phillips hauled in eight passes for 194 yards and three scores.

Dallas Renegades Latest

The Renegades improved to 2-1 on the season with a 24-12 victory over the Dragons last Saturday in Seattle. Landry Jones completed 30-of-41 passes for 274 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions while Donald Parham caught five-of-seven targets for 101 yards and two scores. Cameron Artis-Payne played well again, rushing 13 times for 80 yards on a 6.2 YPC average.

Game Prediction

The Roughnecks are the most impressive team in the league through three weeks of XFL play and while the Renegades were favored to win the XFL title coming into the season, I don’t know why oddsmakers continue to give Dallas the benefit of the doubt. Yes, the Renegades are 2-0 with Jones under center but their offense hasn’t flourished like the Roughnecks under Walker and head coach June Jones. Last week, Houston averaged 6.0 yards per play and 8.5 yards per pass in its 34-27 win over the Vipers. Meanwhile, Dallas averaged 4.6 yards per play and just 6.7 yards per pass in its win over the Dragons. I have yet to be impressed with Dallas and while both underdogs covered in Saturday’s XFL game, I see the favorite getting it done in this one.
