Patriots favored to win 2017 AFC title
In what has become an annual occurrence, the Patriots have opened as the favorites to win the 2017 AFC Championship.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book RealBet.eu, the Patriots are listed as 7/2 favorites to win the AFC title next season after coming up short in 2016. The Steelers have the next best odds at 4/1, while the Bengals are 7/1 and the defending champion Broncos are 9/1.
Continuing with the odds, the Chiefs and Colts are both 10/1, respectively, while the Ravens and Bills are 18/1, respectively. The Jets are 20/1, the Texans and Raiders are 25/1, respectively, while the Jaguars, Dolphins, Chargers and Titans are all 30/1, respectively. The Browns currently have the longest odds at 60/1.
While the Patriots give bettors the best chance to cash in (that's why they're favored), the team that offers perhaps the best value at this point is the Bengals. Free agency and the draft are still a month or more away but Cincinnati was one of the best teams in the NFL this season before an injury to Andy Dalton killed their Super Bowl aspirations. Granted, Marvin Lewis has yet to win a playoff game in his career but the Bengals looked like one of the best teams in the NFL before Dalton suffered his injury. At 7/1, they're worth a flier if you're looking for value at this point in the year.
