Patriots Julian Edelman Super Bowl 53 Props, 1/30/19 Predictions & Odds

Julian Edelman has had a terrific postseason for the Patriots, catching 16 passes for 247 yards in wins over the Chiefs and Chargers. What kind of impact can prop bettors expect out of Edelman this Sunday when the Pats take on the Rams in Super Bowl 53?

Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Patriots are 2.5-point favorites to beat the Rams. The total, meanwhile, sits at 56.5 points. As of this writing, 78% of the public betting tickets are on the Patriots to cover the point spread.

Player Snapshot

Suspended for the first four games of the regular season, Edelman still caught 74 passes for 850 yards and six touchdowns in 2018. As previously mentioned, he has been a big contributor for New England in the postseason, catching 16 passes on 23 targets and 247 yards. He had a monster game versus the Chargers in the Divisional round, catching nine passes for 151 yards.

Julian Edelman Super Bowl Prop Predictions

In 12 games for the Patriots in 2018, Edelman averaged 6.17 receptions, 70.83 yards and 0.50 touchdowns per game. The last time he faced the Rams was during the 2016 season when he caught eight passes for 101 yards on 12 targets. Of course, that was before the Rams had Wade Phillips as their defensive coordinator. It’ll be interesting to see how the long-time defensive mastermind will game plan for Edelman on Sunday.

Total Receptions: 7.5

Total Receiving Yards: 82.5

Total Receiving Yards on First Reception: 9.5

Longest Reception: 23.5

Will he Score a FIRST HALF Touchdown: Yes 29/10; No 5/19

Will he Have a RUSHING Attempt: Yes 20/23; No 20/23

Edelman and James White figure to have huge impacts for the Patriots in the passing game this weekend. While oddsmakers have likely inflated Edelman’s prop numbers, I still think he goes over 7.5 receptions and 82.5 receiving yards. Consider this: When the Pats went with a ball-control game plan versus the Chargers in the Divisional round, Edelman still caught nine passes for 151 yards. Even if White is involved early and often, Edelman will see plenty of targets.
