Pittsburgh Panthers Game Notes
Pittsburgh senior QB Kenny Pickett was named the ACC Player of the Year on Wednesday. Pickett (6'3/200) opted to return for one more season at Pitt in hopes of boosting his NFL Draft stock in 2022. It's safe to say he his hard work as paid off, as he's thrown for 4,066 yards, 40 touchdowns and seven interceptions on the year, while leading Pitt to a 10-2 record. It was the first time Pitt has won 10 regular season games since 1981. Pitt received 52-of-64 votes for player of the year, and 54 votes for ACC Offensive Player of the year.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons Game Notes
Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson was named ACC Head Coach of the Year on Thursday. This should come to no surprise, as the Demon Deacons were one of only two teams in the ACC to win 10 games. The other team is the Pitt Panthers who they will face on Saturday in the ACC Championship Game. After a 4-5 season in 2020, Clawson led the team to a 9-0 start and their best record since 2006 when they finished 11-3 under Jim Grobe. This is Clawson's first coach of the year award with the Demon Deacons.
