Thunder rally from 19 down
Oklahoma City trailed by 19 points in the third quarter Thursday night at Charlotte, but came back for a 111-107 victory. Russell Westbrook led the way with 29 points on 12-of-24 shooting with 10 assists, eight rebounds and three steals. Alex Abrines contributed 25 points and two rebounds off the bench. Dennis Schroder had 21 points, five assists and three boards as a reserve. Paul George had 11 points on just 4-of-20 shooting with 10 rebounds, three assists, four steals and three blocked shots. Jerami Grant added 10 points and six rebounds.
Howard to make Wizards debut
A big reason Washington has started 1-5 is its rebounding woes and deficiencies in the middle. The return of Dwight Howard tonight from injury should help alleviate that problem, but he is likely on a minutes restriction after missing six games. Washington is coming off a 107-95 loss Tuesday night at the Grizzlies in which it was outscored 61-50 in the second half. John Wall led the way with 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting with seven assists, five rebounds and three steals. Bradley Beal contributed 17 points, seven assists, three rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Kelly Oubre Jr. had 16 points, two boards and two steals off the bench. Otto Porter Jr. added 15 points, six rebounds and three assists.
NBA Betting Trends
Oklahoma City
The Thunder are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a straight up win. The under is 4-0 in the last four OKC road games.
Washington
The Wizards are 11-4 ATS in the last 15 home meetings versus the Thunder. Washington is 2-5-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
Prediction:
Washington has had more rest and gets Howard back, which gives me interest in betting on that side tonight. Oklahoma City is going to be fatigued after using energy on a comeback last night and traveling. While the Wizards might need a while to get some chemistry going with Howard in the mix, I still think they do enough tonight to get the win and cover.
PREDICTION: WASHINGTON WIZARDS -2.5
