Irving had somewhat of a disappointing start to the NBA Finals. He had 24 points with 3 3-pointers in Game 1, but then followed that up with only 19 points and 2 3-pointers in Game 2. On Wednesday, back in Cleveland, Irving looked more like the player we remembered in last year’s NBA Finals. He put up 38points on 16-of-29 shooting. However, he was 0-for-7 from the arc and seemed to tire at the end of the game.
For the postseason, Irving is averaging 25 points and 2.3 3-pointers per game. He is shooting just 34.6 percent from the arc in the playoffs. He has scored at least 28 points in six playoff games this season, four of which came at home. He has also hit at least 3 3-pointers in eight playoff games this year. Irving will have to step up tonight if the Warriors are going to avoid being swept. The team needed him to come through late in Game 3 and he couldn’t do it. How will he respond to that disappointment tonight?
