While plenty of bettors have the gut instinct to put their money on the favored Golden State Warriors, here's why it might be best to side with the host Portland Trail Blazers tonight.

According to oddsmakers at YouWager, the Warriors are established as a 5.5-point favorite on the spread line. The total sits at 226 points. Golden State opened as a 7-point fave before it was bet down, while the over-under has gone up from 225.5.

As of Wednesday afternoon, 84 percent of public bets have been placed on the visiting Warriors. Online wager info also shows that 67 percent of bets are coming in on the over.

Golden State won the first meeting this season on its home floor by a count of 111-104, but the Trail Blazers covered the spread of +8.5. That ended a stretch of three straight meetings where the Warriors had covered the spread, but overall in the last 10 matchups it is deadlocked at 5-5ATS. The over has gone 6-4. Golden State has seemingly gotten over a rough stretch as it has won three in a row, including a 129-83 home blowout win over the Suns last time out. The Warriors are 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games, while the over-under is also 5-5. 

Portland is coming off a 115-96 home loss to the Jazz which ended a modest two-game win streak. The Trail Blazers are 16-11 straight up at home this season and have a better overall ATS record than the Warriors. The spread has gone down for a reason. If one or both of Portland's talented guard duo of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum gets hot, it will be a great night for the underdogs in front of what will be a fired-up home crowd.
