Rangers on a skid
The Rangers were on the winning track, but have had a tough week. Following Saturday’s 7-2 loss, they have dropped five of their last six. The Rangers are 39-51 on the season and 20-23 on the road. Texas is scoring 4.53 runs per game this season while allowing 5.08 per game.
Austin Bibens-Dirkx gets the start for the Rangers this afternoon. He has pitched in five games this season and has a 1-2 record with a 4.40 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. Bibens-Dirkx has logged 28.2 innings in 2018 and has recorded 21 strikeouts with eight walks.
Tigers go back-to-back
Detroit picked up a second straight victory on Saturday with a big first inning against the Rangers. The Tigers are now 40-51 overall and 25-22 at home. Detroit is averaging just 3.99 runs per game at the plate while allowing 4.63 per contest.
The Tigers turn the ball over to Michael Fulmer this afternoon. Fulmer has started 17 games this season and he is 3-7 with a 4.22 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. Fulmer has pitched 100.1 innings this year and has 85 strikeouts with 33 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers are 2-12 in their last 14 Game 4’s, but they are 4-1 in Bibens-Dirkx’ last five road starts.
Detroit
The Tigers are 6-14 in their last Sunday games and just 6-18 in Fulmer’s last 24 starts. They are 1-5 in his last six home starts.
Prediction:
Fulmer hasn’t been an ace for the Tigers this year and he has had a few rough outings coming into today’s game. Bibens-Dirx isn’t anything special either, but he has pitched pretty well against poor lineups, which Detroit is among. The Tigers may have scored seven runs on Saturday, but it came in one outburst. They aren’t a team to sustain scoring and I think Texas can beat up on Fulmer.
The Pick: Texas Rangers +105
