The pitching matchup today has Corey Kluber (6-2, 3.24 ERA) on the mound for the Indians to face Andrew Cashner (3-6, 3.50) of the Rangers. Kluber is on a roll right now. He has not allowed an earned run in his last two starts and in three of his last five outings. He now has 93 strikeouts with 19 walks and a 1.05 WHIP. Cashner is coming off a four-inning outing where he allowed four earned runs on 10 hits. He has 33 strikeouts with 31 walks this season and a 1.47 WHIP.
Cleveland has won two of the three games in this series thus far and the two have hit the under in two of the three games. The Indians are now 41-36 overall, 17-21 at home and 45-28 with the under. Texas is 39-39 overall, 17-22 on the road and 41-36 with the under.
The Indians held off Texas late for the two-run win. The Rangers managed a pair of runs in the ninth, but it wasn’t enough. Trevor Bauer had one of his best starts of the year, allowing just one run in 6.1 innings of work. Cody Allen allowed the two runs in the ninth. Yu Darvish pitched six innings and allowed three runs to take his sixth loss of 2017. Michael Brantley had two RBI to lead the Indians while Elvis Andrus had three hits and one RBI for Texas.
Kluber is on a tear right now and he should be able to continue to pitch well against Texas. I don’t see the Rangers putting up many runs today. While Cashner is coming off a rough start, he has been largely good this season as well. Cashner has allowed one run in four of his last eight starts. I think these two definitely stay under 10 runs.
