Yankees on a tear

New York is coming off a four-game sweep of the Orioles in Baltimore and the Yankees have won five straight overall. The Yankees are 32-17 overall, 15-7 on the road and 27-21 with the over. Chad Green takes the mound for New York tonight. He is 0-2 on the season with a 12.41 ERA.

The Yankees are on the upper tier of the league in hitting and pitching. New York is averaging 5.31 runs per game at the plate with a .257 average. On the mound, New York has a 3.76 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP. Gary Sanchez has been leading the team with 15 home runs and 31 RBI while Luke Volt has seven doubles with 12 home runs and 35 RBI.

Royals split doubleheader

Kansas City is coming off a doubleheader split with the Cardinals in St. Louis on Wednesday. The Royals have lost five of their last seven games. KC is 17-32 on the season, 10-15 at home and 26-20 with the over. The Royals have Jakob Junis on the mound tonight. He is 3-5 on the season with a 5.69 ERA.

The Royals are one of the league’s worst pitching staff. They have a 5.23 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP. Offensively, KC is averaging 4.49 runs per game while average .245 at the plate. Adalberto Mondesi is leading the team with 10 doubles, seven triples, five home runs and 40 RBI. Alex Gordon is adding 14 doubles, eight home runs and 34 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

New York

The Yankees have one five straight road games and 12 of their last 14 Friday games.

Kansas City

The Royals are 1-4 in their last five home games and 16-38 in their last 54 against AL East opponents.

Prediction:

Green has pretty poor numbers, but the Yankees have won the last six games he has appeared in. He doesn’t pitch much more than an inning, so even if he struggles, the Yankees have a solid bullpen to work with. KC can hit, but I think it won’t matter tonight. Junis has given up at least four earned runs in his last three outings. Against this powerful New York lineup, I expect the Yankees to continue to pile up the runs while the bullpen takes care of business on the mound.

MLB Prediction: New York Yankees -145
